Simple, but stunning. Very deftly done to translate the graphic novel into a visual feast without overshadowing the story or the original design aesthetic. A lovely and human story. Loved it.

(This refers to the French language version. I didn't watch the English dub.)

My sentiments exactly. The soundtrack is very good too, it's a great blend of east meets.. well, France I guess. Some problems with the visuals here and there - I seem to remember some bad rotoscoping and vector blood at one point, but otherwise it was pretty smooth sailing.

My dad got me the comic for christmas but I probably won't read it - artwork's much more unpolished and the thing is super wordy.

Well I bought it for myself as the kind of Christmas present that only I would know I'd be interested in. Ended up with the whole family sitting down to watch it, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Poll seems to be closed but I'd say 7 or 8. It was sweet in itself but the kind of stand-out-y bit is the view of the conflict from the other side, as in the things that were referred to as main contributory factors, which the West might not necessarily agree with. My dad got a bit pissed off about some of it actually, but he can be safely left out of such things..

But yeah, worth the hour and a half.
