Heyo, Dear Reader

Howdy kids, I'm Marc-Anthony. I write things and some people like 'em. Sometimes, I post those things on this here blog. Free entertainment from me to you. If you want to keep closer track of my shenanigans and goings-on, you can also add me on FaceBook.

Also, I post a new piece of orginal, nowhere-else-on-the-internet kids' art every weekday on my other blog, The Crayon is Mightier! If you're a freak (or just a parent or kid) you might dig it.

If you are local (Central Illinois area) and interested in meeting for business/creative interactions, or just wanna say hello, I hold office hours most Tuesdays & Thursdays between 12pm and 3pm (or later with appointment) at Caffe Paradiso.

If you drop in, I may be free, but if you want to assure I’ll be there and available, please shoot me an e-mail at FindPenwan(at)gmail(dot)com. Just a tiny warning: I often write about the people I randomly meet in public, so if you’re not comfy with the world getting a taste of my take on you, you may want to steer clear.

Yeah, but maybe you'll visit Chicago someday and you can swing by here. And teach me & the boys to salsa!

Well, I'm not on Facebook and don't ever plan to be (in two words, my sister) but I am glad to know you will still be popping back over here now and then :)

Crap. I haven't figured out said privacy settings yet, but I guess I'd better. Still, there are Grandmas on there, and it's got my real name, and I don't have any respect for FB as a company, so I'm trying to be careful with the thing. I'll catch up soon!

Your grandma is on FB? Wow!
Jan. 30th, 2010 04:01 pm (UTC)
Hehe -- sadly I have no more grandmas, but my daughter has four, and two of them are on. Yay grandmas!

this town is coming like a ghost town...
Oh man, another one bites the dust. I realize that it's so much easier to post links on Facebook (I've moved most of my blogging over there as well) but I don't think it's nearly the same for journaling at all ("Notes" is cumbersome to use and not really effective for journaling in my opinion) so I still continue to plan on doing that here. It kind of sucks that FB is sucking the life out of LJ.

I don't have any grandparents left, but my mother, my son, and various other relatives are on FB, so I have to keep my nose pretty clean over there as well.

Re: this town is coming like a ghost town...
Right: I plan to continue to use LJ for long-form prose, journaling and whatnot. I've not done much of that lately due to time constraints, but I realized that I used to also share a lot of links and info I came across, and that I am still doing that on FB, so I may as well let the LJ crowd in on that fun, to tide y'all over between my sparse prosaic offerings. Glad to see ya on FB!

Re: this town is coming like a ghost town...
I'm with you two. Facebook is no place for journaling or long-form prose. With everyone from uncles and cousins to current and former students, I keep it bland there. Have been missing journaling on LJ, so coming back after much of a year. Had already become shy about public posts though, even with the anonymity here, so mostly writing for myself now. M-A if you have super-duper recommendations for friends whose journals I should follow let me know.

I'm moving in May but I'm hoping to spend a few days visiting JD and Sarah in your general vicinity.

So... so there.

add me if you like
I dunno if my journal is irresistible or not but I'd love it if you added me. :) However I'll add that the same stuff gets posted to my facebook fanpage so if you'd rather check out my posts there that's cool too.

durr Hai guy!
Holy shit, dude. I had no idea you were in Urbana, IL. I live here, too! I went into Caffe Paradisio once, but the barista gave me grief for only ordering a black coffee. I guess because it wasn't a mocha double-latte with skim soy milk with a hint of cinnamon I wasn't good enough. If I need a coffee fix, and I'm out in town, I just go to Aroma Cafe in Champaign.

Re: durr Hai guy!
Yep. I've been in C-U for a few years now - I've never had any similar issues at Paradiso. I always get straight black coffee and really, I think most baristas would prefer simpler orders to overly ornate ones, but maybe that's just me ;) Aroma's definitely not my speed. Too narrow, bright and often loud. I like the wide open space in Paradiso, the staff is fun and friendly, and their sandwiches are awesome.
