To all of my queer friends and allies, who've been hating on Obama for his choice of (so-called) ex-gay singer Donnie McClurkin on his gospel tour, take a look at his response in The Advocate before you write him off out of spite.

Also, let's keep in mind that candidates themselves can't oversee every aspect of their campaign, but are often expected to answer for the decisions made by those under them. True, the responsibility is ultimately theirs, but I can't expect someone with such a packed schedule to say "Hey, wait a minute, none of these gospel singers are ex-gay freakwads, are they?"

While we're at it - several of my friends from the south have expressed being upset by something or other that Obama said a few months back. I tried my damndest, but never understood quite what they were getting at. Could someone please explain it to me?
