Today is the birthday of David Wechsler, front man for Piñataland. First of all, as he may read this, I'd like everyone to wish him a great one. Second, in celebration of his pre- and post-natal activities, he's giving away his new album, Vacations for just $5, right here. This is for today only, so I suggest you make with the charging ASAP.

David Wechsler, of the weird, wonderful and sublimely anachronistic, yet modern band Piñataland has released his new solo album, entitled Vacations. Luckily for all the instant gratification freaks all over the web, you can download it for a little under 10 smackers. I've done so and it's a fantastic album. You can choose either Mp3s or a "make-your-own-CD kit," complete with CD-quality files, printable cover and inset art, and joy. Lots of joy.

If you’re not familiar with Wechsler or Piñataland, I strongly suggest that you check out Songs for the Forgotten Future, Volume 1., as Volume 2 is well on its way.

Piñataland combines an early 20th Century carnival music aesthetic with contemporary technology and odd, often narrative songs that are both delightful and a tad creepy. Forgotten Future is one of my favorite albums of all time, so I’m giddy for this new release and can’t wait for the next volume. Check it out, pigs.
